HTANI partnered with Magherafelt Rural Learning Partnership (MRLP) and Ulster University to deliver Monument(al) challenges training in Derry/Londonderry. Twenty teachers from the MRLP and the PGCE students from Ulster University were trained in the active approaches for teaching students about public monuments and contested histories. Martina McCormick (St. Mary’s Grammar) and Denver Charles (Magherafelt High School) led a workshop, before taking the teachers to trial the lessons in Derry/Londonderry. There the group visited the Peace Bridge, the Diamond War Memorial, the Factory Girls sculpture and Free Derry corner. Thanks to EUROCLIO for facilitating our involvement in this fabulous project.
