On 20th and 21st May 2026, HTANI partnered with Memorial de la Shoah and the Education Authority to deliver the second Beginner Training: The Holocaust as a Starting Point. This training delved into the pedagogical approaches that should underpin teaching sensitive material on topics such as the Holocaust. Trainees were giving a grounding on Antisemitism, while also looking at the approaches to using photographs of the Holocaust in the classroom.

On the second day of the training, Jayne Simms (EA Lead Peaceplus Aspire), Emma Foster (Development Officer Peaceplus Aspire) and Denver Charles (HTANI) delivered the training that accompanies the award-winning series, Once Upon a Time in Northern Ireland, and outlined approaches to teaching the Northern Ireland conflict in the classroom. The training ended with Tony Gallagher leading a tour of the Belfast Murals: Belfast Remembrance, from Divis to East Belfast.

We look forward to a advanced training in the Autumn term which will tackle more complex Holocaust-related topics and the Troubles.
